Next dates:

Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th June 2024 (2 half days on Zoom – 9.30am-1pm)

If you are interested in a 1 day (9.30-4.30pm) face to face training, please get in touch.

This interactive training covers:

  • Pre-consultation communication with clients
  • The purpose of initial consultations
  • Behaviour change
  • Walking with your client on a unique journey
  • Completing the client journey
  • Developing your own style
  • Reflection and evaluation

There will be lots of opportunity to practice your skills during the training, receive feedback and understand how the client feels during their interactions with you.

When this course is delivered online via Zoom it is not a webinar, although you will learn lots of theory too, it is an interactive session.

Why do this training, when others are available?

  • Interactive sessions with case studies and the opportunity for feedback
  • Small groups so you have time to have your questions answered and get input in the role play sessions
  • Full day (or 2 half days if delivered online) which allows for a comprehensive approach
  • Handout pack posted to you (or given to you in person)
  • Experienced trainer – experienced both in delivering 1-1s and in professional development. A trainer who will give honest feedback and share experiences
  • AfN endorsed CPD

Who is the course for?

This course is open to nutritionists registered with the Association for Nutrition, those on AfN accredited courses or those on courses which are eligible for portfolio entry. The course is aimed at UK based nutritionists however it is open to non UK nutritionists. Whether you work as a freelancer or are employed, this course is for you.

What does the course cost?

The course is £140 per person (plus a £10 surcharge for postage to non UK participants for the online training – I am unable to take USA or Canada residents). That’s less than the cost of 2 clients. It’s a worthwhile investment.

Can I get some 1-1 time with the trainer?

OPTIONAL ADD ON: Following feedback I am now offering an add on to this training. The add on is a one to one session delivered online where you will be the nutritionist and I will act as the client. You will deliver a 45 minute consultation with me and then I will give feedback on your technique and advise how you can improve – the total session is 90 minutes. This is in addition to the role play within the training and provides more in depth feedback and practice time. The add on is £75 if booked with the training, or £100 if booked at a later date.

Is this course CPD endorsed?

Yes, the course is CPD endorsed by the Association for Nutrition – endorsement number EN263.

What has been said about this training:

The course offered the right balance between theory and hands-on experience and it gave me a broad overview of what are the key components of an effective nutritional consultation. It was packed with precious tips and helpful resources and it gave me more motivation to continue practicing and develop my skills. Aliya was professional and approachable, and the training was conducted in an enjoyable and stress free way. Angela Foscan, ANutr

“Very good training, good group size, very interactive and everything was covered without feeling like too much information” Amy Murphy, ANutr

“Very well designed and presented. Much more confident going forward, thank you! Examples very helpful.” Sarah, ANutr

What has been said about the add-on session?

“The 1-1 practise session was a really important experience as it allowed me to explore my strengths and weaknesses working with a close-to-real-life client. Aliya gave detailed constructive feedback which will play an integral role in shaping my future consultations (which I hope to deliver). I would recommend this for people who are unsure of how to conduct their own 1-1 sessions as it will require you to consider everything from the small details, such as particular language and phrases used, to how you apply your knowledge in a practical setting – something a lot of us weren’t taught during our degrees.” Rosanna Flynn, ANutr

Aliya’s “Setting up a Nutrition Consultancy” was incredibly structured, interactive and very helpful. I had no idea where to begin and attending the course has been so helpful for laying out the steps that need to be taken. I also had a 1-1 add on where I was able to ask Aliya follow up questions for  an hour which I highly recommend. If you are thinking about setting up your own nutrition business definitely book in for both the course and add-on!” – Anonymous, Associate Registered Nutritionist
