Ever thought about booking a consultation with a nutritionist but wasn’t sure what it would involve?
When I say, “I’m a Registered Nutritionist”, you might immediately start thinking weight loss, or the food police. But is that actually true? Who actually needs a nutritionist – is it just people who want to lose weight?
Who needs a nutritionist?
Yes, I do help some people lose weight BUT I actually also help people to gain weight. Yes, some people need to gain weight, particularly older adults after illness.
I also help people to reduce their blood pressure, reduce their cholesterol, improve their gut health, increase their energy levels, and simply eat well within the constraints of life.
I work with both children and adults. You might think, how can she be a specialist in both. Well, my specialism is healthy eating without chaining you to the kitchen or breaking the bank. My specialism is practical advice which will make a difference in your life. You could say I’m an expert in problem solving!
Not all nutritionists work in the same way so I wanted to share how I work.
So, what happens if you are one of my clients?
You can either email me or phone me and have a quick chat, then I’ll ask you to fill in a booking form. I ask for a few details and then there is a short contract to sign so you know what to expect. Then we will find a time to have our first appointment?
What happens at an initial 1-1 nutrition consultation?
We might meet in person in Withington, Manchester or we might meet online. In the first session I will ask you lots of questions about your past food intake, your past health conditions, your current conditions, current food intake, your goals, your likes and dislikes, and your day to day routine.
Then we will start setting some goals together. These are small, manageable goals which help you achieve your overall goal. When we set these goals, we always work round your current life. My strapline is, healthy eating without chaining you to the kitchen or breaking the bank, so that’s what we do. We set goals which are right for you.
We will then book our next session.
What happens at follow-up consultations?
We will talk about how you have been getting on. I am not the food police. I will work with you to support you. No food is banned (unless you are allergic to it, can’t eat it for cultural reasons, or it interacts with your medications).
Sometimes we need to work on your relationship with food. Emotional eating, not stopping eating when full, food rewards are all common things my clients work with me on.
Why are follow-up consultations important?
In follow up consultations we are able to go deeper into the planning of meals and dealing with some of the root causes of our eating habits.
One session won’t give the support you will need to change your long term habits and relationship with food.
There is never any pressure to book follow ups but I would recommend them.
What happens if I can’t afford lots of follow ups?
I would always recommend at least 2 sessions. After that, if you can’t afford more, please tell me and we can come up with a step by step plan for you to follow without support. It’s not the same as having the full support but it will guide you as you work on your goals.

What previous clients have said
“I was struggling with tiredness and energy levels, and so I looked for some nutrition advice to try to improve the way I was feeling. Aliya helped me navigate the complicated topic of nutrition, and worked with me to help me make some simple but effective changes to my diet. I feel better than before and I am confident that the changes I have made are becoming ingrained habits.” (Jack, Withington)
“Can’t thank Aliya enough for the help and advice she gave me for my 3 year old. She adapted to suit our needs and requirements and gave me total peace of mind that anything is possible with just a different perspective. I would highly recommend to anyone who is having trouble with food or habits around food. Service is very reasonably priced for the results you get.” (Megan, Mum)
