I recently went to a conference in Manchester on obesity run by Open Forum Events. The conference highlighted the issues of obesity, things which all health professionals have heard before but there was little in the way of how to move forward. The general consensus was we know there is an issue and we know that once people are overweight it is very hard for them to lose weight so we need to change the environment.
Not rocket science really but what are we doing about changing the environment. It seems to me that every one of us needs to think about our diets and then lobby the food industry and planning departments on issues from WHSmith asking you if you want a chocolate with the pack of pens you just bought to whether to allow not just another fast food shop to open.
What will you do?
