Allergy and Intolerance week

Last week was Food Allergy and Intolerance week. Many people think they have allergies and intolerances but it is important they get a medical diagnosis in order to confirm it. Managing an allergy is actually quite difficult and it is important to get the proper advice and not to fall foul of the advertising of big business. Fortunately products which are suitable for people with food allergies are much more readily available. There are also lots of websites with yummy recipes to help people stick to their required diet.

So, if you think you have a food allergy, don’t go to unqualified people but go to your GP and ask for a referral to an allergy clinic at your local hospital. It can actually be quite dangerous to cut out foods out of your diet without knowing how to get the nutrients those particular foods would have provided.

Go to www.allergyuk.com for lots of information about the subject.
